Starting from the visitor centre, we visit historic sites that pre-date the reservoirs and the dams which dominate the valley now.

We pass the site of the flooded village of Derwent and great views of the valley open up as we use old routes to visit the quiet woods and moors of the valley sides.

 Expect undefined paths over rough pasture with some steep descents and a chance to glimpse a mountain blackbird or mountain hare.

Event Grade: Moderate: moderate walks on ground with sometimes rough and uneven terrain and gradients.

Event Terrain: Some undefined paths over rough pasture and some steep descents.
