On the Trail of the Kinder 'Trespass' - Saturday 3 May
9 miles
In 1932 a 'mass trespass' by ramblers took place on Kinder Scout, on what was then private land, thereby kick-starting the movement to secure access to the countryside for all for future generations. On this walk you can follow in the footsteps of the protesters and hear their story.
The walk starts from Bowden Bridge Car Park, near Hayfield, and heads past Kinder reservoir before following William Clough up onto the high moor of the Dark Peak. It then traces the edge of the Kinder Scout plateau to the iconic Kinder Downfall, the tallest waterfall in the Peak District.
From there it briefly joins the Pennine Way, continuing south to the trig point of Kinder Low, the second highest point in the Peak District, before descending to Edale Cross, a medieval boundary marker, and thence to the car park at Bowden Bridge.
