Dambuilders, Dambusters and Birchinlee. Accessible for all! Saturday 9 May

A gentle stroll in the Upper Derwent Valley passing the iconic Derwent Dam and with views of the equally stunning Howden Dam.  We visit the ruins of Birchinlee village, where the dam builders lived for 15 years, at the side of what is now Derwent reservoir.  Walk leader Roger uses old photographs of the village and the residents to illustrate tales of life in a very different time.

The walk is designed to be Wheelchair and Mobility Scooter friendly but everyone is welcome  -  please expect a slow pace of walk.

Please arrive early as the car park will be very busy. Parking charges apply.

There are toilets and a refreshment kiosk on site.

Cost:  £10 for adults.  Children under 18 are free with an accompanying adult.
