Championing National Parks for Everyone - Manchester Community Networking Event
Championing National Parks for Everyone - Manchester Community Networking Event
Saturday 29th April 11am - 2:00pm
We would like to invite you to a community-networking event for a new project:
Championing National Parks for Everyone
The project is led by Sheffield based charity Peak District Mosaic, working with the Peak District, North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Park Authorities to connect communities with their local National Park.
Our vision is that everyone should be confident to visit and enjoy National Parks for the benefit of health and wellbeing, developing new knowledge and skills and to help protect National Parks for future generations.
We have received a development grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, which aims to support more people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities to build a lifelong relationship with National Parks. We plan to run a series of different opportunities to increase peoples' knowledge about National Parks and increase confidence accessing them. This will include running training to help create a network of Community Champions who are empowered to lead their own visits that introduce others to the National Parks in the way they think best. We also aim to create a range of volunteering opportunities and apprenticeships that will support routes into green careers.
Initially we are delivering a series of community networking events to help develop our plans. We are particularly interested in getting feedback from a range of voluntary, community and faith organisations, led by people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities or who work closely with those communities.
The events will:
- Share our plans about the project in more detail
- Get feedback to develop our plans to meet the needs of different communities
- Begin to build a network of organisations interested in working together in the future to understand shared challenges and develop solutions
- Share information about current activities within the Peak District National Park
- Promote opportunities for all to access and enjoy National Parks
It would be great if you were able to join us for this conversation. If you are aware of anyone else who would be interested in attending this event, please pass this information on. Please note that there is a booking limit of 25 places.
