Leaving the busy Fairholmes Visitor Centre, head uphill on to the moorland towards Alport Castles with great views of the Kinder plateau plus the Derwent and Howden edges and beyond.
Visit Alport Castles, the remains of one of the largest inland landslips in the UK, consisting of towering cliffs and rocky outcrops including The Tower.
Descend to the remote Alport farm, both the birthplace of the suffragette Hannah Mitchell and the location of an annual love feast, a Christian ceremony that has been held at Alport farm for hundreds of years.
Return via the Alport and Ashop valleys uphill (again) back to Fairholmes.
Suitable for children over 10 years old but be prepared to walk 8.5 miles, including two long uphill stretches.
Event Grade: Hard - longer more challenging walks usually with ascents and descents and rough terrain.
Event Terrain: Mostly good paths and tracks though there is one very steep descent on rocky ground and a steep ascent in the afternoon

Parking: Pay and Display. Please arrive early as Fairholmes car park can get very busy. There are toilets at Fairholmes.
Dogs: Dogs on leads allowed.
Cost: £10 per person aged 18 and above. Children aged 17 and below go free on any suitable event.
