An introduction to navigation, comprising a short presentation followed by practice on a walk in the Derwent Valley and up on the moors.  We focus on map reading and navigating without a compass, mainly using rights of way.  Learn about map scales, symbols, grid references, distances, contours, topography etc

Event Grade: Easy - short walks mostly on paths. Ground will be rough and uneven. Taken at a leisurely pace. 

Extra Items: Bring OS  Explorer Map. OL1 Dark Peak (1:25,000 map) if you have it.

Start: 10:00 am  Finish: 3:00 pm

Meeting Point: Fairholmes Visitor Centre (near Derwent dam)    

Parking: Pay & Display - Parking will be busy so arrive early to find a space.
