Tucked away amongst the rocks on the western flanks of Kinder Scout, there’s a grassy shelf with a large pool - perfect to relax away from the crowds and to enjoy the excellent panorama across the neighbouring countryside. But the tranquillity and stillness of the water give no clue to the legend that lies beneath.
On this six mile walk we discover the magical Mermaid’s Pool and hear about the Easter spirit that gives it its name. Poems and stories promise a supernatural appearance with life-changing consequences – so just what lies in store for those who catch a glimpse of the mountain’s mysterious mermaid?
