A challenging walk over the moors to visit the site of several aircraft wrecks. Roger Waddington tells the fascinating stories of the crews and the planes. A great opportunity to access some remote moorland accompanied by National Park rangers. Awesome views if the weather is kind! But, be prepared for a tough walk in winter conditions. Meet in the staff car park, we will drive in convoy to the start of the walk.
Event Grade: Very Hard - longer and challenging walks. Expect steep ascents and descents over loose and/or rocky ground. A higher level of fitness and stamina is required. If in any doubt, try a lesser graded walk first.
Extra Items: Please be very well prepared for wintry weather. Walking boots, waterproof winter clothing, lunch and hot drinks.
Event Terrain: Steep climbs, rough moorland walking. Can be very wet.
Start: 10.00am Finish: 5:00pm
Meeting Point: Fairholmes Visitor Centre, Derwent Lane, Bamford - near Derwent Dam. Please park and then meet in the staff car park by the cycle hire as we are going to drive, in convoy, to the start of the walk. Toilets at the start.
